Do you know how goddamn hard I work at not getting spoiled for the one stupid comic book I still think is worth reading these days? Almost every other comic I like is cancelled, cut short, infected by horrible crossover events, or given to crappy writers, but Ultimate Spider-Man has managed to maintain its quality (despite a brief hiccup of art ( Read more... )

I'm with you on the quality of USM, Bendis his writing has been outstanding and aside from the brief Stuart Immonen experiment the art has been great.
[Spoilers for USM 160 ahead]
But you have to be somewhat realistic, the arc was called the 'Death of Spider-Man', kinda spoils everything to be honest. And after his fake demise in the horror that was Ultimatum (please shoot Loeb, pretty please) you kinda knew Bendis was going to do something that would stick.

Yeah, but Death of Spider-Man can mean a lot of things, just like how in Batman RIP [highlight to reveal spoilers:]Batman wasn't actually killed, the title of an arc isn't necessarily to be taken literally. It could have easily seen the Spider-Man character "killed" whereas Peter Parker continues to live.

True, comic book deaths rarely stick, unless your name is Benjamin Parker. If you are looking for worthwhile writing you should check out Hickman's Secret Warriors. It starts off kinda slow but the build up is worth it, probably one of the few books I can call intriguing.

They're all false spoilers. The truth is, in a massive battle Spider-Man/Peter Parker gets his wangus lopped off. Thus "Spider-Man" dies and Spider-Eunuch is born!

... Or should I have not spoiled that?
