Yuletide Santa Letter 2011
Dear Yuletide Santa,
Thank you so much for making time in your holiday season to write for me! I'm very excited to meet you and am very excited to see what you write for me. I really appreciate all the hard work that goes into writing and know how busy this time of year tends to be, so I am doubly grateful to you and promise I will love your fic :o)
Overall I tend to be a romantic, but a rather dark one. Anti-heroes tend to capture my fancy more than the traditional good guy. I tend to root for charming rogues and villains who seduce and tempt the heroines to their way of life. I enjoy shades of grey and seeing a heroine tempted by a vampire or killer struggling between her desire for him and the conventional moralities. I think desire can be very psychologically complex. Although romance is my favorite genre, I'm open to other genres as well and trust your muse.
Adult content and themes are fine. I enjoy PWP, but enjoy a naughty fic with plot even more. As far as naughtiness goes, I'm open to everything from a sensual seduction with candles to light/moderate bondage. When it comes to bondage, I prefer male dominant, consensual, and without humiliation/degradation. I guess you could say that when it comes to sex I like there to be some degree of caring behind it. Some slight relucatance is fine but I really am squicked by non-con.
Likes
Happy Endings - Not necessarily in the conventional sense. A happy ending for me might involve the heroine embracing being a vampire, becoming a serial killer along with the anti-hero, or something similar. Happy can be embracing darkness and accepting that part of one's nature as opposed to the conventional sunshine and white wedding.
Anti-heroes who embrace what they are: vampire, serial killer, etc. I hate the wishy-washy type of vampire who apologize for what they are and hate themselves. Arrogant, confidant bastards who celebrate the evil anti-hero sort they are, are much more my cup of tea.
Vampires who bite and transform the objects of their affection.
Dislikes
I'd prefer no m-preg, cross-dressing, incest, non-con, or group sex. They aren't things I'm especially fond of.
I'd prefer no slash as the fandoms I've requested don't lend themselves to that for me, though they may for others.
For personal reasons, I'd like to request no cancer or disease plot lines.
Out of character profanity. (I'm totally fine with swearing when it's in character though.)
American Gothic - I absolutely adored this show and wish it hadn't been cancelled! Lucas Buck was my favorite character, the good sheriff and his machinations were a delight to behold. My least favorite character in the series was probably Merle, although I'm fine with her being included as needed. Caleb is fascinating, but I really prefer hearing about his father, Lucas. I really enjoy Lucas/Gail paired together and would love to find out what happened either between them during their semi-secret affiair or how their relationship would have continued in another season after the chaos with Caleb, Selena and all that transpired.
Dracula The Series - Another unrrated gem! I would have loved to see the series continue into adulthood for Sophie and the boys. I think that Alexander Lucard had a lot of chemistry with Sophie and I'd love to see how it grew when she was a bit older. Alexander Lucard is my favorite character on the series. He was so charismatic even amid the campiness. I'd really love a post-series fic about Lucard and Sophie perhaps 10-15 years later when she was in her late 20's - mid 30's. Klaus wasn't my favorite character in the series, but I'm fine with him being included in a peripheral role.
Fright Night (1985) - This is one of my favorite films of all time! Jerry Dandrige was everything a vampire should be and more. I'd love a fic about Jerry and Amy. Could be within the film or something afterwards perhaps he didn't die or was somehow revived. I never really was too fond of his supposed sister in the sequel and his assistant Billy Cole wasn't my favorite in F.N., so I'd prefer not to have either of them play a prominent role if possible.
Fandom specific requests are completely optional. I really am open to wherever your muse guides you. They're primarily there for if you need insight into my tastes or need a dash of inspiration. I think the best fics are the ones that we feel inspired when we write them, so please feel free to go where your inspiration takes you. If you have a idea that is outside the box that really intrigues you, I'll be thrilled with it and enjoy your fic.
