Even though most people are dreadful, social networking is key.

Becoming "successful" in the world--be it in the business world or in the world of sports (i.e. Pokémon training)--requires knowing people.

That is my excuse for joining such a stupid event. Hopefully the individual I meet is someone important. Otherwise it'll be a waste of time.

You don't need to know people really. It's just a matter of doing what you want and taking what you want.

Those were my initial beliefs. But my father has gotten me to start thinking differently. He apparently got to where he is now by "knowing" people. He's not exactly a role model, but I choose to follow his advice based on the results that he has shown me. I don't intend to become anyone's "buddy." I plan to meet and acquaint myself with important people only. Simply knowing such individuals on the most basic level is sufficient for success.

Most people want to feel valued. Calling them dreadful is an interesting way to do business. Try not to appear desparate.

I understand. But the way I see it, the people who I find "dreadful" ARE dreadful. They find offense at being called as such, because they know it's true. However, people who are confident enough about themselves wouldn't take offense and are usually important people--such as yourself, Mr. Saito. You are a person who I'd like to be friends with.

Indeed. If you're making the right decisions in life, you know there's nothing to apologise for because you're in the right. But when those actions affect others... Have you taken on the first gym yet?
