I had a dream last night, and I think Occam's Razor will help understand it.
The dream was rather short and happened right as I woke up. I was on the stage at UM High School, looking out on a crowded theater audience, and we were performing "The Lion King". I was playing Timon, and the dream started right at the beginning of "Can You Feel The Love Tonight." I nailed the beginning of the song, and as I was walking offstage and the main characters were coming on for the main part of the song, I watched hundreds (literally, hundreds) of company members streaming onto the stage in blue fabric costumes holding multi-colored feathers. At this point, I noticed my Timon costume, which was tan. For some reason, I had a sudden urge to join them, and so I hustled over to the room across the hallway from the stage, and tried to quickly find a blue fabric costume that I could use to be a part of the mass on stage. There were many people in the other room, including some I recognized from high school, so for some reason not everyone was part of the swaying blue mass. I had found a blue costume and was just about to make my way on stage when the thought went across my mind: "Wait a minute, I need to be Timon for the end of the song!" I was scrambling to take my blue costume off and put the tan one back on when I woke up.
So what's the Occam's Razor Dream Interpretation? I'm different, it's good to be different, I don't have to worry about being part of the crowd because there will be a part for me, I may not be the main character, but I will have an important part to play in life.
Are there more things to take from this 3 minute bout of rapid eye motion sleep right before awakening on a Sunday? Probably. But in honor of the extra hour of sleep we got this morning, I'll save you from my further dream interpretations.
It was a tough week last week for things beyond my control. Time for some serenity.
