NEED HEEEELLLLP!!! BADLY!

I broke my sister's mobile phone it's a Motorola V3. The phone get stuck while typing a message, what I did was remove the battery and restart it again. But the same thing happens over and over again. How can I remedy this? I'm in big trouble. *nail biting* I think the space key get stucks and the phone hangs too. Should I reformat it or somn????
