Two (though probably unintentionally so) stingy comments about my dancing have been smarting. With every subsequent dance, I can feel myself curling into a tiny ball of timidity, afraid that every lead is thinking those things or other such things. Ugh.

Gretchen, I can't tell you how many leaders I heard compliment your dancing while I was out there, seriously. Of course I can't speak from experience, but I like watching you dance. I think you have a lovely style. :)

Thank you! :) I'm really excited, but sad I won't be in Portland as well. Have fun in Japan!

Oh and you and Ben are both welcome to come visit me this summer! From what I hear, despite all the great blues/jazz music nightly, the swing dancers of NOLA choose to dance to rockabilly. Pretty freakin' strange, I know. I figure this just means I'll have to bring all the wonderful outside dancers to me! hehe.
