15 Minute Challenge: Your Celestial Body

May 06, 2009 09:10

Her stomach as it leads to the meadow between her legs is like the man and the celestial shape of the moon: its closeness is a trick of the eye, for actually it is great and laden with meaning, and so many thousands of miles away. Reaching for it in his daydreams, he thinks he can almost touch it, that elusive center of her being. One eye shut, he aims, but his fingers close on empty air.

It teases him. He's memorized that graceful step from the kitchen to the bathroom, keeping pace with her though she is beyond his grasp. A dark and moving heaven as seen from the window of a car, traveling quick as you could go, all the stars and features dimmed by street lights except for that round and ancient satellite. Her figure passes through his eyelashes like a waxing moon through trees.
