Auto bailout non-vote

OK, so the auto bailout didn't make it through a vote to end debate, so it never got a vote on the actual bill. Not meaning to discuss the merits of the bailout here, just noticing a few things about the vote to end debate ( Read more... )

At a guess, no-one really wants this bailout to pass, but a lot of Dems can't be seen to vote against it because that would piss off union constituents.

I doubt that--I agree that few people like the idea of the bailout, but I'd hope that they're voting for it because it's seen as an unfortunate necessity rather due to union pressure. Only four Dems voted against, and ten Republicans voted for.
