I never get text messages to my mobile phone... until I have a wonky screen. It shows as solid blue, but clearly the phone is functioning. Now however I can't use the text message from my bank to authorise a transaction because I can't read the code!

Er, I forget whether SMS is stored on the SIM or not. You may just stick it in another phone for a second.
