Disclaimer: Ah, I don’t own these beautiful men. If I did, I highly doubt I would be writing this entirely fictional piece of writing.
Comments: Wow... I never really expected to get nearly 3 and a half pages out of this. Honestly I only expected two - barely three at the most. Anyway, this is loosely (And I mean loosely) based on the song Fill Me In by Craig David. Actually... it's not really based on it is it? It's based on like one line from the song. ^^;; But meh. I got the idea for this from that song. And now that I finally have this done... I can listen to other music now! o(^_^)o

Aoi could feel it, and he was sure of it. If his heart beat even one beat faster, the bloody muscle would pop right out of his chest. He knew nothing was wrong. The blonde just didn’t care to answer the phone anymore when the elder stepped out. That’s all it was. Nothing was out of place, and their love was unbreakable.

But, he thought, if that was true, then why were his hands shaking so badly? It wasn’t just his hands. His whole body was shaking. The sickening churns of his stomach didn’t help matters. Surprisingly, a chuckle made it past his lips. Would the blonde laugh at the pitiful state he was in? Would he even notice if he were there to witness it?

“Shit,” Aoi hissed as the key scraped the side of the lock. Several hisses later, the key was no closer to getting into the keyhole as Aoi was getting into his apartment.

“God damn it!” Frustrated, he hurtled the key to the ground and placed his forehead against the mantel of the door. The wood was cool, and he hoped it would somehow help calm him.

Click.

He eased up to look at the now barely cracked door. A pair of eyes was looking worriedly back at him.

“I thought I heard something out here.” Ruki’s voice was soft, music to Aoi’s ears. “Aoi, you okay?”

The blonde offered a smile and a comforting hand on the shoulder. The brunette placed his cheek against the hand and sighed. What was the problem to begin with anyway? He had no idea, but was more than happy to have it disappear from his thought-train. Having Ruki near him was all that mattered.

“I’m fine, Ru. I have no idea what came over me,” he whispered. He opened his eyes as he attempted to grin. Then his eyes caught the red fabric. It was only for a second, but he knew the blonde had seen it. His grin faltered.

Ruki withdrew his hand; his now seemingly forced smile grew as he tugged Aoi into the apartment. The brunette reluctantly followed, the sickness returning to his stomach. He slumped onto the couch as Ruki went to get him a drink.

“Ru, we have any coffee?” he called. He heard the blonde curse as something plastic fell to the floor. That was a good enough answer for him.

He sprawled out on the couch, pressing himself as far as he could into the back of it. He squeezed his eyes shut as he tried desperately to come up with a reason for his headache. A reason that didn’t involve Ruki.

The couch dipped as the blonde sat on the edge. He nudged Aoi’s hand with the mug he found.

“What’d you break?” The words were meant to be lighthearted, but instead they came out cold and distant.

“I just dropped a plastic cup. Plastic’s not as easy to break as glass when it falls,” Ruki responded, slightly defensive.

Aoi took the cup and sipped. He spit the liquid out and shoved the mug towards the blonde, nearly spilling the drink.

“What the hell is that?” Ruki gave a blank stare and shook his head. “Ru, it’s black,” Aoi growled. He grabbed for a can of stale soda sitting on the table and gulped it down.

“I’m sorry,” the blonde mumbled. He got up and returned to the kitchen.

What the hell was he doing? Aoi thought. Serving him black coffee. Why the hell would he have black coffee sitting around anyway? He knew Ruki hated the bitter taste just as much as he did. There was only one person that came to mind when it came to liking the bitter drink, and he wasn’t exactly Aoi’s favorite person in the world.

Ruki returned to the couch with a steaming mug.

“Try this,” he offered as he handed the mug back to Aoi. He let out a soft moan as the sweetened liquid warmed his throat as he swallowed.

“Thanks, Ru,” he said as he looked over at him. After a few moments of silence, Aoi opened his mouth again. “Ru, did you get a shower?”

Ruki fidgeted with his shirt sleeves. “Yeah, why? I can’t get a shower while you’re out?”

“Just wondering,” Aoi muttered. It made no sense to him. Ruki had taken a shower that morning. Why would he need to take another one? Maybe it did make sense to him...

Bzzzzzt.

Ruki jumped as his phone started to vibrate across the table. Aoi eyed the phone, trying to see whose number was showing, but Ruki quickly grabbed it and went off to the other room.

Aoi craned his neck over the back of the couch, struggling to catch even a word of what Ruki was discussing with whoever was on the other end. He didn’t really need to hear any of the conversation to know who it was calling this late. The brunette’s heart sped up as he heard Ruki whisper shrilly.

“What do you mean you left it here?”

Aoi cracked a smile. If anything, he could always find joy hearing that one of the blonde’s little covered-up plots could be foiled if he so much as dared to put himself into the situation. He raised his eyebrows for a split second as he heard the patting of feet rushing towards the bedroom. Their bedroom.

Ruki mumbled a few more things into the small device while he stood in the hall far enough to not be seen from the couch.

“Uh-huh. Yeah. ........ Bye.” What were the words before ‘bye’? Aoi furrowed his brows as he replayed the last words said by the blonde in his head. He was sure Ruki hadn’t changed the volume of his voice at all. So why couldn’t he catch those words?

Aoi saw Ruki peek around the corner. Whether or not the blonde saw him watching him was another question. The brunette had guessed he hadn’t since he hurriedly dashed to the kitchen.

“Ru,” Aoi started.

“What?” His voice seemed a tad bit higher than usual.

“What was that in your hand?” Aoi’s stomach did another flop.

The blonde came and stood in the kitchen doorway, holding up his right hand.

“Aoi, this is a cell phone. I was talking on it just a few seconds ago.”

Aoi shook his head. “No, I mean that thing that was in your other hand. When you went in there, you had something else...” he trailed off as he pointed to the kitchen. “Ru, what was it?”

Ruki looked back into the kitchen, then back to Aoi. “Oh, that was... It was nothing.”

Aoi groaned as he sat up, setting the cup of coffee on the table. His head was starting to throb. Ruki’s eyes widened and he quickly went to the kitchen and nearly tackled Aoi back onto the couch. He had his hand on Aoi’s, a piece of cloth between them.

“Reita left it here. On accident.” His words were swift and short.

Aoi picked at the thin piece of cloth. “When was Reita here?”

The blonde flinched. His bottom lip rolled between his teeth. “L...last week. Remember?” Ruki wrapped his arms around the brunette’s chest and gently coaxed him to lie back.

Aoi ran his tongue over his dry lips. “If he was here last week, wouldn’t he have noticed sooner?” he asked coolly.

The blonde tried to say something but his words never came out.

A chill ran down his spine as Aoi flashed him a grin. “I guess Rei’s getting as forgetful as Kai.” Ruki laughed quietly as he nodded.

“Yeah, I guess he is.” Ruki cuddled into Aoi’s chest as he reached for the remote.

After flipping through a few channels, Aoi settled on some game show. Ruki lightly pressed his lips to Aoi’s cheek before settling down between him and the back of the couch. The brunette tightened his arm’s grasp against the blonde and nuzzled the top of his head.

This was how it should be every night. Aoi comes home from wandering around town and then Ruki and he curl up on the couch. Or depending on his mood, do a little more on the couch or in the bedroom. Even though he still couldn’t shake off the feeling his stomach was giving him, he knew it was true if he kept telling himself it was. Nothing was out of place, and their love was unbreakable.

A/N: So... I'm curious as to what people think about this one... since I think it's a bit... weird.
