Writing question

One of my subjects this semester is creative writing. Which seems like it should be okay. But the problem is everytime I sit down to write something I can't think of anything. Which has led to the song "Die, Vampire, Die" from Title of Show to run through my head and while that's fun it's possibly a little counterproductive. Now considering ( Read more... )

I start writing and hope for the best... Literally, I don't think of plots first. Either it's a line that comes into my head (heck, use 'Die Vampire Die' and go from there!) or a character who seems interesting.

Lines I've written from include:

It was raining, twenty years in my future. That figured (sci fi)

When my father died, he left me debts, nothing more. (regency lesbian)

"Spank me? I'd like to see you try!" (erotica)

Two other suggestions: don't try and write something good, just try and write SOMETHING. Also, my play-writing tutor at uni used to encourage us to write when drunk because the inhibiting effect of the empty page was not so strong...
