I figure I will try to list the useful/productive tasks that I managed to do each day so that I don't feel so completely useless. A visual representation of the tasks I managed - however few - might help encourage me that I am capable of adulting and being a normal human person.
- Tried creating a new account on VMG Patient Portal, which gave me access to all my old medical records. Win! Glad I decided to try creating a new account after all, which saved me an anxiety-inducing phone call.
- Managed to locate said medical records, which are printable for whenever I go in to a new place. Huzzah!
- Called first potential doctor (the closest) and had terribly nerve-wracking one-sided conversation with someone whose accent I really couldn't understand at all. Should possibly have expected this from a doctor in Little Saigon, but it would also be nice if they could emphasize catering to Vietnamese patients first and foremost. (I know that sounds terrible and I'm sorry.) Regardless, I was able to piece together the fact that she had never even heard of my insurance despite being listed as part of the network (??).
- Went through insurance packet and verified that yes, I was looking under the correct network and reading my insurance card correctly.
- Determined that nurse practitioner at UW clinic is probably for heart patients only (why the stupid website lists doctors that aren't really general practitioners is beyond me).
- Called second potential doctor (rated highly, but kinda far), whose accent was much more easy for me to understand. Found out office is closed through 5.17; will try again then. This is the office I was inclined to go with from the start, although the distance isn't ideal.
- Cooked breakfast, washed dishes, and showered. GOLD STAR.
- Texted Dane to set up time for him to help me recover files from my broken laptop. This will allow me to get a resume ready for job hunting and also have access to all my writing from college. Hopefully. He'll be coming by on 5.16.
- Checked out the Richmond universities to see if any of them offered any noteworthy grad programs. Spoiler alert: they didn't.
I suppose some of the items aren't really major, but I have to remind myself that for me anything productive at all (including cooking/showering) should be counted as a win. I need to prove to myself that I am getting things done, albeit slowly at this point. And then I need to stick to it.
My plan at this point is to try and take care of one doctor-related task each day until I manage to get an appointment. I will also try to look at one school each day so I can finalize the list of grad programs I want to apply to; this will open up my 'schedule' for GRE studying and Japanese refresher stuff.
