This self-portrait by Marianne Breslauer is behind a cut because it does have nudity. It's an absolutely gorgeous picture. One of her photographs won the Photo of the Year award at the Salon International d’art Photographique in 1934.

Wow! I like the self-portrait that you posted, but I LOVE the photo that you linked to--the one that may have won the Photo of the Year Award. I'm not familiar with Marianne Breslauer at all, so thanks for sharing this.

Glad you liked it!

I'd never heard of her before either and she definitely seemed worth sharing.

Isn't it! I just love the balance between the various textures, what's in and out of focus, and that almost silhouette of her body.

No easily obtained books about her, but searching for one did lead me to this title, which sounds interesting -- In the Shadow of the Magic Mountain: The Erika and Klaus Mann Story, about Thomas Mann's children and their art/fight against Nazism.

Glad you liked it! I'd like to know more about her, but the few books seem to be just her photographs (and are too expensive for me to buy anyway).
