I read a lot, but it's god damned amazing how much time a body has when you don't work. I read 261 books last year, and I watched an ungodly amount of TV. I rewatched like, four series of Bake Off, I watched both Westworld series THREE times each, rewatched all of Call the Midwife, Bojack Horseman... I mean, the new series of Bojack that came out ( Read more... )

It's very welcome commenting!

It's one of those things where we can only really compare ourselves to ourselves (at least if we're being fair). Knowing what we do on a better day vs a worse day, etc... Like my major warning signs for mood stuff aren't the same as yours, that kind of thing.

With books I was already a sometimes audiobook consumer before I got sick, which helps now. Reading in print is much more difficult for me these days.

Distraction is always the name of the game, and one media isn't better or worse than another. We do what we can do that day, in the end.

It gets weird when people comment on the number of books, but I'd happily read far fewer and be able to do other things.

I'd love to hear about your novel if you ever feel like e-mailing about it.

I was trying to write a novel myself, imagining the life of my maternal grandmother (died when my mom was 15) if she had a romantic relationship with her friend Jo (I have hundreds of her photos from about ten years of single working/college life).
