and so it begins...

The temps at night have dropped, so the usual NC summer bug problem is under control again and I can cross Borax off the shopping list for a while (actually not, because it is AMAZING for dealing with skanky work uniforms.  And since the spousebeast has been moved to seafood specialist...well, y'all do the math.  Ew.  But at least he's no longer in ( Read more... )

Who has time for rude uppity houseguests? I love my house spiders. I greet the crickets downstairs every night. We're in the woods and get lots of critters, too. I won't do anything to the mice unless they come for my snacks haha.

How very judgemental to come in, bring uninvited guests, and then say rude things like that.

From what you say, I'd feel right at home in your place. J loves to collect clutter too :-) I've become less of a collector over the years but I still remember the feeling :-) I love homes that look and feel like actual personalities live there. My mother's house could appear in "Modern Homes" or some such journal, it's all tidy and neat and sterile.

Here with us we've by now weeded out our friends to be used to dog and cat hair everywhere, more or less cluttered cupboards, and a nose in the crotch for a greeting (that would be Neo, not me, mind). Those who remained friends, we keep. The others can go and pose for "Modern Homes".

You are doing a vow renewal - awwww!

Heh, my MIL and my SILs keep their houses the same way. It must be a SAHM generational thing that's passed down. My mother was too busy working to be bothered with sterility. Same for me. Plus, dogs 🐶🐕

It certainly didn't pass from my mother to me *lol* Thank goodness!

Working may have a lot to do with it. If your work is staying at home and caring for the family, then the tidiness of that place is a showcase of how good you are in that line of work. For women with a job, it's more of a place to live and throw their feet up.

Are you allowed to have cats? Since we got our two cats, we haven't seen any signs of mice. It's been at least 18 months I think.

Your place sounds so cozy and inviting! To each their own I guess but to me there's nothing more welcoming than a home that is clearly *a home*, as opposed to one that feels like a set leftover from some Good Housekeeping shoot. Of course, your friend was incredibly rude on multiple levels (bringing uninvited guests! I just...) so her opinion can be safely discounted imo. You sound like an awesome hostess.
