Well, I've just witnessed another relationship go down in flames (not one of my own, thank God...). When these things happen the usual philosophical questions tend to pop up, so why fight it:

Is love 'real', or is it just some chemical thing humans go through ( Read more... )

*hugs muchly* Poor UM...

Each person has their own ideas on the subjects you mentioned. No one knows the answer for certain I'm affraid, but I can tell you how I see things...

Love is quite real. It has some to do with chemicals, such as the pheramones people give off to attract the one they love, but it has more to do with looking at someone and just knowing you want to spend the rest of your life with that person. *hugs her back*

Soulmates are real; you know you've found yours when you suddenly find yourself in true love before you know it.
Sex is really good, but it shouldn't be a primary goal.

When we got engaged, my wife started to feel kind of guilty because it meant she would be the only person I would ever have had sex with in my life (barring some unforseen catastrophe). But I don't really care. I truly feel that she is my soulmate, she is my true love. If that means I have to turn down Catherine Zeta-Jones's offer of a quickie in the bathroom, then so be it. I'm more than willing to make that sacrifice to keep the trust and honor in my marriage. (No, we don't have those Friends-type lists of people we'd be allowed to sleep with if the opportunity arose.
