Sanctuary thoughts

Well, I've been thinking about it for a while now. I posted on Tumblr saying that... Well, I can quote:

I think I can manage to sum up my thoughts without major spoilers:
  • Will stuff? Strangely touching, but probably boring when doing multiple rewatches in the future.
  • Liked the abnormals a lot at first then it got a little boring
  • AWWWW Henry you softie
  • Helen is so beautiful I feel like I’m going to die! Gaahhjdjgds
  • Gun fight scene thing? Nom Henry.
If there was more I forgot.

It's no secret that Will is one of my least favorite characters. I always feel the need to stress the fact that I don't hate him, though. I've got nothing against the guy on a deep level. But I do think he can be a sort of boring character compared to many of the other ones on this show.

I wasn't as bored as I thought I'd be by his story. It was touching, actually. Well, parts of it. But overall... I found the episode to be kind of pointless. Okay, fine, it was basically boring. But it wasn't ALL boring, every minute, and it wasn't really BAD. But not really quality either.

Anyway, I say I started out liking the angry birds (great joke, Henry, so obvious and so like you to go there - I love you!), because they were fun but then got boring? Well, it's not so much that I randomly started disliking them or the story as such...
It's mostly that I found it too predictable to be fun. But I still liked the characters, in that annoying charming kind of way.

Perhaps I watch too many shows, or something, but I found it terribly obvious that there really were orphans.
Gangsters! Good guys! Lies! No, only sneaky semi-truth! Bad! Good! Orphans! No orphans!

I was like... Guys, really? Isn't it obvious how it'll play out? That whole will they/won't they/are they/did they betray us!!-thing was lost on me.
And I tend to miss a lot of stuff, because I'm not always paying attention.

They could also have done so much more with Will's story and background. The way they told it, I mean. Well, and the general story I guess. I feel like they dragged something out that could've instead been summed up in a few sentences.

Learning that all the recent choices are affecting the whole Sanctuary network is fascinating, and it was interesting seeing HOW it's affecting it/them in certain places. Why not focus more on that? A bit of that, a bit of Will. Something to flesh it out.
Instead of having literally nothing but Will lying on a bed, in an empty room, remembering sad stuff. It didn't even really tell us THAT much about him, or develop his character enough. Told us a little, and he grew a little. But... the rest?

I don't know. Like I say, it wasn't really a bad episode... but not good either. For me, personally, at least. Maybe if it had been more fleshed out, and/or my love for Will was stronger, and/or I'd have been intrigued by the twists with the whole... orphan... thing. Bird people. Whatever their names were.
I forget.

Ho-hum! Okay. Yeah.
Done rambling for now.

Basically wanted to clarify that I didn't hate it or anything, despite not loving it either.
