Hi Mac! I'm so glad you love the wand. It came out a bit long, I believe it's 42 cm when I normally make them 36 cm but sometimes the wood dictates what the wand will look like, as it did in this case. The carvings I do with a Dremel tool and it typically takes me 2 days to do. The deep dark colour is due to the wood-stain I use. Willow wood is normally almost white in colour but I first carve then sand down and then apply wood-stain. This one has about 6 layers I think. The gold detail is done with gold paint and a very fine pencil. I've made two more since I made yours and for the first time I also made a box with it, which was more difficult to make than the wand itself haha. I'll post a picture of it here.

Ooooh, hi! Thank you again for the wand, my dear, it's THE BEST. Have you read all the other lovely comments? Everyone loves it.
Wow, the box is amazing, it looks so professional. I said you could sell them before, and oh, now you could definitely do that.
Aw, yes, of course. The community came together to cheer each other up, and it was the loveliest idea. The comments I received were so honest and sweet. You can find the information and a list here.

Yes, I found the link and read the comments. They were so sweet, it was awesome to read. As were the comments on the wand. I read them all and it was really cool to see. I guess there's nothing like the real thing. If you order a wand from internet you either get a resin copy of the ones used in Harry Potter or you get one made on a lathe (wood turning device). Nothing like a hand made, hand carved wand. I know I could sell them and in fact I have sold a few over the years but I make them a bit expensive because it's just so much work and I want some return for that. That's normal isn't it? I've given away a few too because the cause was too good to ask for money. Anyway, for anyone reading this, the one in the box is for sale for €75,- incl. shipping ^___^ And that includes the box too. I hope you get lots of joy from your wand Mac. I couldn't think of a more deserving person to make it for as a sort of seal on our friendship ^__^
Eeee, yes wow, I am so lucky. I remembered his talent from years ago but I'd forgotten just how creative he could be. Then when I opened the package when it arrived, I was floored. I mean *whistles* look at it. Gorgeous details, carved with such care, and the wood is prepared and treated too. So much effort for little me!!
