Just a thought
It's been a while, I know, but I thought I'd share a thought I had.
He's groggy. Shouldn't've drank so much on an empty stomach like that, Jim thought as he half walked, half stumbled from the transport shuttle.
It was more for the good of the man sitting next to him than for his own. The man - this Leonard - who had looked (and smelled) like he'd been three sheets to the wind before the shuttle ever left the ground. Jim's known plenty of troubles like those, the ones that would be easier to forget oneself in a bottle than remember. The only problem, as Jim had learned from a little practice himself, is that those troubles only come bubbling up again after the haze of alcohol filters away. So, he'd taken it upon himself to relieve his temporary companion of a portion of his flask; if only for the man's own sake. If that man - McCoy - had any hope of passing the entrance exams he'd need a pretty straight head. And if Jim didn't make it, well...at least he had a free ride to the coast.
