The internet seems to be conspiring against me at the moment. Yesterday I was browsing through torrent sites looking for music, which is normally all well and good. However, I went to one or two sites that I knew were less-than-reputable and I caught a super malicious Trojan (go figure, right?). Long story short, Antispyware Soft is some kind of 'super malware' that poses as a legitimate spyware/malware fighting system, you only need to go to this one website and give them your credit card informa... Yeah, don't do that. I heard a story from a friend of mine who does IT work for a local company, and damn, this thing is a real bitch.

What Antispyware Soft does is takes over your registry with strings and strings of information. It starts to watch your browsing habits and throws pop ups at you randomly. But more importantly, poses as a windows program and starts to say that your computer is infected with a series of viruses. If you try to open an anti-virus the process will start and suddenly be terminated. Then "Windows" will tell you that a random task is also infected and you should instead try downloading/buying this new "Windows Certified" spyware program, for the low, low price of I'm not even going to mention it.

It was obvious to me what was going on, because there was no way even half of the program that were "infected" actually were. So instead of spending a week changing file names to bypass the virus and deleting half of my .dll files and rumaging through hkey, I reformatted my machine. Oh joy.
