Oh, it certainly was. It curtailed the already in-place structures in the free market, in which things are handled without gov't intervention.
Government always gets in the way of free market fluidity. Plus it makes things (at every level) cost more.
Under Bush the federal gov't grew massive. I was no fan of that at all. But the article essentially says: "Well, the other side did it, so it's alright." I disagree. That's certainly something that's never alright if someone does and certainly no reason to excuse it when the others do so.
And I don't think you're nitpicking at all. You brought up a perfectly valid point and I'm glad you did.
