[The video turns on, and--well, some of you may remember this pale, porcelain face with its large black sunglasses and stoic expression. The 'Gear it was transmitted from suffered a short, watery demise in a lake a few minutes later

[Larry recognizes this kid! It has been a while since he last saw that face on the network... Maybe he left and came back? May as well see what's up.

So he waves his free hand at the screen.]

[Unfortunately, Larry, Machi doesn't recognise you.

He is also completely indifferent to the wave, on account of pretending to be blind--for what little the gesture would have been worth to begin with anyway. His response, correspondingly, is both tense and awkward.

And yeah, still with the dense accent. That one is permanent.]

[... Yep, just as weird as Larry remembers him.

But from the response, Larry isn't quite sure if the kid remembers anything. Of course they didn't speak that much before, but maybe he'd recognize him. The post would probably be different if he did remember though...

[Machi, ever the stoic, is pretty much expressionless even in times of stress. The vaguely displeased face he makes here, though, speaks volumes.

So does the deadpan in his voice.]

How new is... three week? Four?

[There's a brief hesitation while he recounts the weeks. He wasn't really keeping track.

He could still be wrong, but he doesn't much care.

[Satoshi doesn't recognize him, but he's a friendly guy. And, well, he remembered how friendly everyone was to him here. It makes an impact when you're used to being shunned.

He wants to return the favor. So he just gives Machi a smile.]

Unfortunately, this mostly just makes him look really flat and kind of dour. Maybe even bored.]
