Anyhow... Bruder is correct for 'brother'. Brueder would be 'brothers'; the plural. Except it's actually Bruederchen for 'little brother'. Why so confusing, German? :P
And, yeah, if you don't have umlauts, you can just put an e after the letter that needs it. Which makes sense, since the umlaut used to be an e written over the letter needing the change in sound. And I'm about to geek out on you, so I'll shut up. XD
