I was never very successful at giving up things for Lent as a child. My family didn't observe the Sundays off rule, but Lee and Kate's birthdays normally fell within Lent so if you have up ice cream or pop you could normally have it on those days. I've been told saints' days that fall during Lent (for example, St. Patrick's Day, the drunkennest day of the year) are like Sundays; they don't count. So. There's that. Good luck!
