That sounds like an awesome tool. Unfortunately I think if you wanted to do it with a right-click you would have to actually embed it into IE or Firefox instead of just having it be an add-on.
If you use Firefox you can copy-paste it into the search bar in the upper-right corner instead of having to load a new Web page. You can add search engines to the search bar, I'll see if IMDB is one that you can add...
FYI, the full list of search engines that Firefox supports is here. Between the built-in engines and those add-ons, most of the ones you mention are supported. Not as cool as your right-click idea, but still a little easier than opening the relevant search engine and copy-pasting.
Wow. I never really paid any attention to that box up there on the right. This gives me a new appreciation of Firefox. This is almost as good as the right-click idea. Thanks. Both of you.
1. If you highlight a word or words, and right-click, you can choose "Search web for "Brian O'Halloran"." That opens another tab, behind the one you're reading, with a Google search for "Brian O'Halloran" (in quotes).
2. Firefox has a small search box in the regular toolbar, and you can type your search string in there, and then choose what you want to search: google, eBay, IMDb, Netflix -- almost any searchable website has an engine that you can easily install, to add it to the drop down list.
So they're pretty close! And I'd say that if they can do that, then your idea is just the next step.
