yeah i've been in the same situation a couple times. my dad disappears for awhile then just randomly calls me up. i dunno what exactly happened with you and your dad but for me seeing him was awkward but alright. anyway good luck.

Yes you accomplish your mission! lol I wouldnt know what I would do with the whole dad situation because I neve been in that situation but even though you might not what to see him, think on how he feels. Maybe he wants to see you. It might make him happy :) lol
