Shouldn’t Kiss Me Like This…
They're all watchin' us now
They think we're falling in love
They'd never believe we're just friends
When you kiss me like this
I think you mean it like that
If you do baby kiss me again
Kiss me again

Lorne sighed, leaning back against the wall, watching the couples spinning around the makeshift dance floor. His eyes were drawn to one pair in particular, was that Parrish with her? Nah, why would LAURA, be dancing with PARRISH? Moving a little closer, he realized that it was indeed Parrish.
He quickly cut across the dance floor and tapped the scientist on the shoulder.
“Mind if I cut in?” he asked.
Parrish mumbled something and quickly scurried away, leaving Laura staring at Lorne.
“Sir?” she questioned, just loudly enough to be heard over the music.
Lorne huffed, “how many times do I have to tell you? It’s Evan when we’re off duty, Laura.”
She shrugged, stepping into his arms as the music changed to a slow ballad.
“You know, you should be glad that I rescued you.” He said with the barest hint of a smile.
“How do you figure that you rescued me?” she shot back, looking up at him.
“I saved you from dancing with Parrish.” He said.
“He’s not that bad!” she quickly protested.
“Right, that's why you were two feet from him, the entire time.” He said, with a chuckle.
“Whatever.” Laura said as she rolled her eyes, continuing to move across the floor with him.
As the song ended, he smiled at her.
“Thanks for the dance, Laura.”
“You’re welcome, sir.” She said with a grin.
He sighed and turned to walk away.
“Evan, wait!” she called after him.
He turned to look at her as she closed the distance between them.
“Laura?” He asked softly, seeing the smile on her face.
Suddenly she leaned in, her lips brushing his lightly at first, then deeper, hungrier. He kissed her back for a moment before pulling away.
“You know, you shouldn’t kiss me like that Laura.” He said softly.
“Why?” she asked, suddenly aware of the eyes watching them from around the room.
“Because, now they’ll never believe that we’re just friends.” He said, a little gruffly.
“So, isn’t it about time?” she asked with a laugh.
Evan stared at her for a moment, dumbfounded, before pulling her into another long kiss.
