Some shows, like Without a Trace, weave the interpersonal stories with the cases a bit more elegantly and efficiently. On CSI, it almost always feels awkward, extraneous and unnecessary.
Yes, but that wasn't the case in the first seasons. I mean, considering the ratings of the first seasons, people liked the (flirty and teasing) interaction between Cath and Gil. It was fun when you had these two teamed up together, and you could also concentrate on the actual crime. So, it can be done even in a show like CSI. They just have to concentrate on the right characters (imo G/C ha!). Unfortunately, TPTB don't know where they wanna take the characters and make sudden and strange moves. It feels awkard indeed. I can't say CSI is my favorite show anymore. Not al all. They're still in my top 10, but out of my top 5.
