Well, I bit the bullet and went to WINZ to get assistance in paying for bond and advance rent. It sucks though, I had to ask for help from then not even two months ago to pay off some flat expenses and such things

I have to say, moving to a new city is hard. I found moving to Wellington in particular to be a nightmare for the first two months or so (you might notice by my entries in Dec 03/Jan 04). It does get better though. Yell out if you need a hand with anything I can help with. :)
It definatly is a jolt. Wellington is just so much bigger than dunedin, and the people seem significantly less friendly in general (except the RP people of course, you guys rock). In dunedin you can happily just start up a conversation with a random stranger and continue the conversation for a good 15 minutes. In wellington overtures of friendship and conversation seem to be swiftly met with silence.
I have to admit though, having lived in Wellington for 2-3 weeks now I cant imagine living in dunedin again. Dunedin just seems so small now... :P
And thanks for the offer of help. I absolutely suck at asking for or accepting help, a huge part of my problem, but the offer is still appreciated. :D
Heh. Move to Island Bay. Everyone is friendly out that way. :)
Seriously though, Wellingtonian's are friendly to those they have shared experiences with. It is perfectly okay to talk to the person next to you at the bus stop about the bus being late, for instance. People in Wellington are fairly driven, and don't have a lot of free time. They suffer from stress, and it's better to catch them at the start of the day that the end of it. But other than that, they're the same people as Dunedin: but older and over-worked. :D
Dont forget better dressed. I have seen one person (beside myself) who wears cheap clothing in wellington so far. With average $ per household higher I guess standards of appearance raise as well. :P
