I got bored tonight, so I managed to get both my physics and my calc homework done tonight, even though they're due wednesday. And I'm still left feeling rather bored. Even though I could probably get to bed earlier than usual and get quite a bit of sleep, I don't feel like it, so it's update time.
Classes
Things are going alright back at school here. I like my classes so far, and I'm actually doing well already. I have high hopes for this semester. If I can keep up the good work, I think I will achieve my goal I set for myself of getting all A's this semester. A few classes it might get harder to do that in, but I think I can still do it. If I do do it, that means my GPA will be above a 3.0, which will be a good thing, and could possibly mean a lot more financial aid for me. I figure I can afford a B in one of three classes to still get above a 3.0, abnormal psych, mythology or CS 105.
TechNews
On the other side of the coin, other things are going alright. I'm getting tired of all the TechNews [our student newspaper] drama and problems (I am a section editor for Technology, in case you didn't know). Unfortunately, all of us section editors do not have faith in our editor-in-chief anymore. She's not doing her job right, and things are running horribly. Hopefully she either gets the hang of the position and does things to make it a good paper again, or steps down, which will probably not happen. I have nothing against her as a person, I just don't think she's fit for editor-in-chief. And on top of all the management and problems with the writers, or rather the lack of writers, pay is still not worked out. It keeps changing. Last year I was told $20/issue for the section, plus $15/article after the first, then this year it was going to be $40/issue, plus $15/article, and then we apparently didn't have enough money (even with half the staff quitting after the first issue, which is a whole other issue) so it was $20/issue, and maybe $5/article if there was a great need for more articles, or if writing for another section. Now we're being told it might be more again still, because they found they had more money than they thought.... Ugh... Enough about TechNews.
In order to skip all the boring stories about past weekends, I'll just talk about this weekend.
Friday
Friday night was really bad. I had to write my articles to fill my section up for the news paper (midnight friday deadline, which I'm now bumping up for myself to 6pm friday at the latest for my articles. I'm not wasting friday nights writing anymore) it wouldn't have been so bad, except for the two fire alarms that went off, an hour apart. The second time, Richard and I just decided to stay in our room and lock the door and just do our thing. After I finished my articles, not much really went on, except for when it came to go to bed. Our neighbor's music happened to be on quite loud, with the bass really pumping, and neither Richard and I could get an answer at the door to ask them too turn it down. It was about 4:30am by this time too. So we went to the front desk and called the RA on duty, he came and he unlocked the door, and it turns out the guy fell asleep, even with his music blasting. The RA turned it down, and told the guy to not let it happen again, though I don't think he heard him. Oh well...
Saturnday
Saturday turned out to much more eventful and fun. After waking up at noon and goofing off all afternoon, Chris and I decided we wanted to go look for this Thai food place we ran across last year and try it out. We tried to gather troops to go with us, to no avail, so we just went, greened it up to Clark/Lake then Browned to Diversey (saw some rather interesting college students, freshmen somewhere by my guess, the girls were bimbos and the guys were the ex-highschool jocks). We had to wander around and look for a little while, but we eventually found it. We both got noodle dishes and spring rolls, and it was all very good. I'd love to go back there again {Liz, you should come with}.
After the yummy Thai, Chris and I were going to go see The Exorcism of Emily Rose with Justin and his girlfriend Dagny. We had to Brown it around the loop, and on the train there were three emo girls, probably mid-teens, applying makeup and well... they were rather hilarious, Chris and I really had to bite our tongues. After Browning to Lake and switching to the Red, we got off and headed towards the theater, got our tickets and went in. When Justin and Dagny arrived, we had to sit waaaaay down in front. Even though the movie was quite distorted from where I was sitting, it was still srsly awsm. I really want to go see it again, and I think we shall this wednesday. After we got back, there was much bwee, fwee and squee. I headed back to my room, and decided to watch Master and Commander with Yin and La Luce. It's still a good movie.
Sunshineday
Sunday consisted with waking up at noon, homework (including much
physics, prompting a realization, followed by an attempt at calc homework. In between there, however, La Luce and I decided we wanted some crappy food, and what better than McDonalds. We got Yin and Stanford to go with us, and we Greened it then Reded it up to Grand to the Rock'n'Roll McDonalds. I haven't had McD's in almost a year, but it was quite good.
On the way back, there were several events that were rather amusing to myself. First, walking back to the Red, there was an older bum standing near the stairs, and as we walked by, he said, and I kid you not "Honor and respect gentlemen" and the others kept walking, while I stopped, as I wanted to hear what he had to say. He started out by shaking my hand, for stopping for him, and then he started on his speech, he needed to buy his daughter (who was no where within sight) a sandwich, and he opened his hand, which already had several dollars in it. But by this time, Yin wanted me to get away from him, so he yell at me that we were late, which forced the conversation to end early, so I didn't hear the rest of his speech. Oh well. I've never heard the "honor and respect" card pulled ever before, which is why I stopped.
But that was nothing compared to the sight we saw on the platform at Roosevelt. By this time, the Orange had stopped running, and the Green was on its last few trains. We were waiting for a little while for the train, and soon these three individuals came up the stairs, most likely coming from the Red. These weren't normal people though, two girls and a guy, dressed in the loudest emo-punk clothing possible. I wanted to take a picture of them so bad, however no camera was available. I'd describe them, but that would just draw this entry out even further, but I will say that the guy was wearing platform-ish shoes with tights and a weird blazer, and one of the girls had jet black hair, shortish, kinda swished back to one side, with bright yellow (real yellow) at the last 3 inches. It... was... hilarious. Eventually our green came. We got on, they did not. Apparently they wanted an Orange. The driver was waiting, I believe for them, to get on, and eventually they started walking towards the board with the schedule. Though I did not see this myself, but apparently when they saw that the Orange wasn't running anymore, they started banging on the wall. The Mexican guys waiting on the platform still (I think for the Green in the opposite direction) started clapping at them and laughing. It was great. Though I feel bad that they couldn't get a train, they were just plain hilarious people. After that adventure, and getting back, I worked on calc until 5, then slept. It was a great sunday night.

Monday
After catching a pretty craptacular lunch in the Commons, I went to CS lab, and breezed through the lab exercises. They were quite easy. Then physics involved a cool demonstration of how mirrors work with this awesome light and mirror set that stuck magnetically to the black board. I finished up the rest of my calc assignment after getting back, and then it was off to calc {where there was a serious lack of Cap'n Liz, tsk tsk...}. An hour and forty minute for a lecture is way too long. Dinner sucked big time tonight, even worse than lunch. Oh well though. I got some good pizza at our floor meeting tonight.
And now, thanks to my boredom, I have no homework to do till for most of the week. Don't know what else I'm going to do now to keep myself busy this week. I'm downloading Stargate SG-1 from friday, and Battlestar Galactica (my new obsession, though no where near Stargate still), so that'll keep me busy a little bit.
And on presses the week.
