Have you read any of Jack Vance's works? I'd recommend the Lyonesse trilogy - Suldrune's Garden, The Green Pearl, and Madouc. Reading them out of order is not advised.
I'd be interested in playing, if by some slim chance there's room for me, and I happen to have that day free. (I don't have my hopes up, but you never know.)
I've been trying to work out what is awesome about D&D, and what is sucky about it, and then seeing how I can tweak the system so that there's more of the former and less of the latter. I'm thinking that this "accentuate the positive" approach might help ease my frustration with the game.
Good luck with your endeavor sir. I'm currently getting prodded to renew my old 2.0 campaign on some level, but having not actually played in over 10 years or so, it's been harder getting back into it than I thought. Hope things run well for you!
You announced you were taking a break from gaming, so I didn't put you on the invite list. I've got a pretty full group now. We also have kind of a floating M-W-Th schedule, which wouldn't work for you at all.
Well WotC has announced 4th Edition... I won't be jumping on it, although there are rumors that 3rd (3.5) edition will still be supported as "Advanced Dungeons $ Dragons" and the new edition will be "Dungeons & Dragons" but I don't know the truth to that (if any). I've really become disenchanted with the D20 system as a whole as of late, I've got a small group of players pushing for it though.

I'm not usually an early adopter. I think it'll be at least a solid year before I'd even consider purchasing or running 4th edition. I like what I've heard about it, in a general sense. If they decide to head more in the direction of the Star Wars Saga Edition with character generation and skills, I think it'll be a huge improvement. That doesn't change that I'm not a big fantasy fan.
