so i finally got the dreaded letter from the state department saying my passport was DENIED. they cited doma. that really puts a crimp in my already planned vacation to spain in sept. now the only way i can get a passport (i had to declare my other one lost) is to petition the court for a name change. i filled out the form already and have to take

I'm confused, I thought any adult could change their name to whatever the hell they wanted, it doesn't have to be apart of a marriage thing? there was that guy who changed his name to "trout fishing in america"

anyway, I'm sorry about the fucked up hassel shit, it is very stupid, DOMA is very mean spirited and unnessary. also it pisses me off extra becouse of all those fuckers who praddle on and on about "states rights" with gay marriage...but um, what about that DOMA shit? you know?

you can change your name to whatever you want you just can't do it on your gay marriage licence. in mass. as in all 50 states i believe, you can change your name on your marriage licence so you don't have to go to court. all you have to do is put in whatever you want your new name to be and with that marriage licence you can get a new social security card and drivers license, etc....everything except a passport. so me now going to court looks fucked up because i have tons of documents with my new name on them. once again i make the argument that no one chooses to be gay b/c who in their right mind would choose all this bullshit.

oh, I didn't realize how easy it is to change your name on a marriage licence, I didn't do it, so I didn't notice.

and yeah, I agree who would willingy choose to have to deal with all the stupid stuff that comes with being any kind of minorty?
