Chapter 3
Chinen smiled at the scene.
Umika gasped in amazement when he had opened a light stick he got from one of their concerts.
She was really like a child.
He didn't really know what to make of it.
'What kind of amnesia is this?'
She knew about things. She had said she love the sky and the sea. She knew she like cherries as well. But she is very bewildered with the most elementary things. She didn't know what scarf is.
And now she seems to be very amazed with his light stick.
It was as if... 'As if she's not from this world.'
They had spent the day very relaxed. Chinen had taught Umika about the simplest things. And she had listened with curiousity and interest.
Night fell and he had found Umika by the window again.
"You really like the sky." He commented.
"Un." She said, smiling. "I love the stars as well."
"You love so many things." He said.
She looked at him. "Is that a bad thing?" she asked sincerely.
He smiled. "No."
She smiled back.
"Umika, it's getting late. We should sleep. You can sleep here, and I'll sleep down in the living room." He said.
She nodded slowly.
"And do you like a change of clothes? You've wore that dress since yesterday..." He said.
Umika just nodded again.
He smiled. "Okay, I'll get some of my old clothes so it wouldn't be too big for you." He said.
He turned to leave but before he could do so, he felt a tug on his sleeves.
Chinen looked back.
"Umika?"
She was looking down and when she looked up at him, he saw a flash of fear in her eyes once again.
"Yuri-kun... is... is it okay if you stayed with me?"
"Eh?"
She blushed and then she shook her head. "I'm sorry. P-please ignore that." she said quickly, looking at the floor again.
Chinen's eyes soften.
'She's afraid to be alone.'
He patted her rather awkwardly on her head and she looked up to him again.
"Okay." He said. "I'll get you some spare clothes and then I'll arrange my extra futon on the floor."
She beamed.
"Arigatou gozaimasu." She said, bowing.
-
It was rather amusing for Chinen.
Taking into account everything that has happened, it was really ironic that what welcomed him at work were angel costumes.
They had their photoshoot today. And the theme would be 'angels'. His band mates had excitedly put on their costumes. They were really kids like that.
He was the first one for the solo photoshoot. The photographer had said he can do pretty much whatever he likes, keeping in mind of course that he was an 'angel.'
Chinen had made a fleeting remark then.
"Should I be a happy angel in heaven or a somber one that has fallen to earth?"
And suddenly the theme had been changed to 'fallen angel.'
They had took photos of the members either looking up the 'sky' in longing, lying down the 'grass' with torned 'wings' (Chinen flinched at that), or whatever else his friends had thought of doing.
After their photoshoot, they had returned back to their dressing room to take some rest before they go to their next work.
Chinen had flopped down the sofa besides Ryuu. He was a bit distracted. He didn't know how Umika was doing at home. He was sure she didn't know what telephone is so he can't really call his home. The ring might cause Umika panic as well.
He sighed, thinking, so he almost didn't catch Ryuu's comment.
"...really new. Kinda refreshing, ne? I don't recall any sempai doing a 'fallen angel' theme before." he said.
"That's true." Keito said, and then he grinned at Chii. "Way to go Chii."
Chinen just smiled.
"Un. Awesome idea." Yuto said. "Sasuga, Chii."
"Actually," Chinen started. He wanted to tell them what had happened. Maybe they could help Umika.
But Yuto has continued talking so Chinen waited.
"That reminds me, have you seen that news the other day? About that unexplained crack on the road?" Yuto was talking to everyone at large.
"Yeah." Yamada said. "That's near your apartment, ne Chii?"
Everyone look at Chii. He just nodded.
"What do you think was it?" Yuto asked.
Ryuu shrugged. "Maybe it is a fallen angel. That's what they're saying, ne? Because of all those feathers scattered around the area."
"You think so?" Yuto said in wonder.
"Wouldn't that be cool?" Keito said.
"But that's impossible." Yamada said.
"Well, what else could it be? And there were witnesses that said they saw something falling from the sky." Ryuu pointed out.
"Still doesn't seem likely to me." Yamada insisted, shrugging.
"Well, what do you think will happen if it is a fallen angel? What do you think that means?" Yuto asked.
Everyone shrugged.
"Well, if I saw one, I might ask for an autograph. I mean... it's rare to see an angel. I'll be famous if I have one." Ryuu said jokingly.
Everyone laughed. Chii smiled as well.
"Famous for being a nutcase." Yamada said playfully. "No one would believe you. And besides, if, hypothetically, there is an angel and the public knows, you wouldn't be able to meet him. I'm sure the government would put the angel in isolation or something at once."
Yuto nodded. "That's true. They'd be very interested. I mean, they're bound to be different from us. They'd probably want to study them or something."
Chinen froze. And suddenly an image of Umika's scared face flash through his mind.
The others have continued talking. But Chinen weren't listening anymore.
'No. I can't tell them. I can't tell anyone. If it gets out... No....'
An alarm rang then and everyone stopped talking looking at where the sound was coming from.
"Hey guys!" Yabu called out excitedly. "Music Station is on air. Turn the TV on! We're the second performer!"
-
Umika was fidgety. She didn't really want to be alone. She felt very uncomfortable.
But Yuri had told her he needs to go for work and to just wait til he come back. He had said she can do whatever she likes but to not go outside.
She didn't really want to go outside. She didn't know what to expect there. And she felt safe inside Yuri's house.
But she didn't know what to do. She had been waiting for him. Had been checking the door if ever it'll open and he'll enter.
She had been exploring the house. Yuri had so many interesting things.
There was this little flat, rectangular thing perched besides Yuri's 'bed', as he calls it, where images of Yuri and some other more people kept flashing.
There was also this big box where cool air comes out and where Yuri had kept the cherries and other foods.
What she was most interested though, was the very big device with white and black, uhm, teeth of a sort and which produce music when pressed.
She had so much fun making melodies with the device.
But a lot of time had already passed and she was getting more impatient and worried.
'Nothing happpened to him, right?'
She had sat herself on a chair by the door, waiting for him.
She had fallen asleep about an hour later.
When she had woken up, the sky was already dark, but still, Yuri has not returned.
Frowning, she stood up and walked around the house.
That was when she noticed a very curious thing. It was lying on the floor. It was a black small object. There were small circles on it.
Curiously, she had touched one of the circles. It was soft. She had pressed the red one.
She let a small squeak when a sound was heard.
A big part of the wall, the middle part, something was stuck to it. A rectangular thing that reminded her of that flat thing by the bed. It had suddenly light up and there were people inside of it.
They were singing. 'How did they get there? Is this another window?'
He tried to touch them, but there was glass.
Suddenly, one of the singers was right in front of her.
Umika gasped. "Yuri!!!"
-
Chinen was exhausted.
After his actvities with JUMP, he and Yamada also did activities with NYC.
He just wanted to lie down and sleep.
He smiled as he opened the door, though. At least he was home now.
He had expected to see Umika asleep, but he was surprised.
Umika was in the living room, watching TV.
She had heard him when he had come and she had gasped.
"Yuri! You're here! But how did you get out of there?" she asked, pointing at the TV.
Chinen blinked, bewildered.
And then he noticed the channel.
"Oh! You saw me on Music Station!" He said in realization.
Umika looked at him blankly.
"Uhm..." He sounded, trying to think of an explanation.
"I wasn't really in there." He said, pointing. "It was just a video."
"Video?"
He nodded. "It's just a... a record. This thing, this is a television. It shows videos, recorded uhm, activities of people."
Umika was still looking at him blankly.
He dropped his things on the sofa and went near her. He took his phone out and said, "I'll show you."
Umika looked at him, interested, waiting.
Chinen had took a short video of Umika with his phone.
"There." He said and then he showed it to Umika.
"That's me!" She exclaimed.
Chinen chuckled. "Yes, this is a video of Umika." He said.
"Is this also te-tere--"
"No, this is not a television. This one's a cellphone. It can also show videos." He said.
Umika nodded in understanding and amazement. Chinen let out another chuckle. And then he slumped down the sofa, sighing in exhaustion.
Umika frowned. "You look very tired."
Chinen smiled at her. "It's okay. I'm used to it."
"Is it because of singing?" She asked.
Chinen grinned. "Well, basically, yes. But I enjoy it so it's worth it."
Umika smiled brightly. "You have a great voice! I love your song!" She said excitedly.
And then she started singing, well, humming more like. She only hummed the tune and say the last words of each line.
Chinen laughed.
"It's..." He said and then he started singing the song as well, emphasizing each word.
Umika went silent for a moment and then she recited the lyrics to Chinen.
He smiled. "Yeah, that's right."
Umika beamed, and then she started singing.
Chinen literally gaped.
Her voice... her voice was so enchanting.
He couldn't describe it... amazing was just not enough. He was entranced.
'An angel's voice could fit, I guess.' he thought.
He had watched her, unmoving, in pure admiration.
She had finished the song, and still Chinen was frozen at the spot.
He blinked. Umika was smiling at him.
"By the way, Yuri-kun, okaeri."
He smiled.
"Tadaima."
-
They had descended to the dark deserted streets.
All three of them were clad in white clothes.
The tallest of the three frowned.
"This world is wasting away..." He said.
"Un." The boy on his right agreed. "It's a shame..."
The other one on the other hand said, "Will we find her, Haruma?"
Haruma faced the two with a grim faced. "It will be difficult, but we need to. Come now, Shougo, Ryunosuke."
To be continued...
Thanks for reading! :D
Extra:
now I think it would take so little imagination to think of this as Keito's solo for their 'fallen angel photoshoot' xDD
sorry, i was too lazy to edit keito's face and to search for a suitable pic.
