Maybe an AU in which Zachariah waits a little bit before sending them back to their own reality?
Dean Smith is a terrible patient when he's got a cold. And boy, is it a doozy of a cold, one that not even elephant-doses of echinacea could ward off. Sam Wesson isn't entirely sure how he got roped into being caregiver, but since he's here he figures he'll make the best of it. *glee*
Oh, and I have NO objection to making this as slashy as possible. Again, lots of bonus points for Sam applying a cold compress to poor, feverish, cranky Dean's forehead. ;)

He poked around in the various herbal cold remedies-Echinacea, zinc, Emergen-C-until he found an old, almost empty bottle of extra-strength Tylenol. He filled a handy water glass-and, without really thinking about it, wet down a washcloth, folding it into a neat roll

Aww, this was adorable! Feverish, wobbly Dean practically face-planting, and Sam automatically falling into caretaker mode even though he doesn't really remember ever doing it before.

I saw you had filled this and I "Yes"ed out loud. :)
I love the way Sam notices all the trimmings of the rich-guy apartment, and his nursing skills bleeding through into this reality and him being like, "That's kinda weird." The tomato rice soup though. Maaan. ♥ I love in general when there's that dizzy blend between two realities in fiction, but then to have it be triggered by Sam wanting to feed Dean his favourite sick-food? And then Dean's super-shaky reaction, like this has struck him to the bone, this tomato rice soup. Agghghhhh. Uh let alone fainting!Dean and sneezing!Dean.

Yay! I'm glad you liked it! It was really fun to imagine what Dean would have when he wasn't just dosing himself with a bottle of jack from the bottom of his duffel bag ;)
And if that tomato-rice soup wasn't a gift to fanfic writers, I don't know what was!
(thank you again for this meme--I haven't had so much fun writing SPN forever--I didn't even fill anything for the last hoodietime meme--but this has gotten me going--)

I can't stop reading this. I think I've read it about 4 times now. I love, love, LOVE seeing the boys this way, especially Dean--the way he unconsciously reaches out to Sam and just submits, both to Sam and to the demands of his own body. I love that little glimpse of what life could have been like for them.

oh yay! I'm thrilled you liked it enough to read it more than once! I have kind of a thing for a Dean who allows himself to be comforted, so I'm glad to share it ;) It was fun to write them when they're not themselves!
