I'm so looking forward to being old and crabby...I'll sit on the porch across from Dean and we'll have a contest to see who can scare more kids.
But see, this is what fandom does to me: I never thought altitude sickness could be funny. And then it was late at night and the idea of Dean hunched up on the side of the road refusing to give in to the nauseating power of mountains was suddenly pretty hilarious. My brain, man...

Bahhhhhhh. The mumbling knees! The quiet circles! The porch where Dean can yell at kids! The yoga breathing! The sad-limp-celery lips! Ohhh my.
I love how unaffected Sam is by the altitude, and how perceptive he is about Dean's situation, AND HOW HE'S GOING TO BUY DEAN A HOUSE. Loooooves his Dean.
Thank you thank you thank you! I feel all spoiled and happy.

Aww, you're welcome. Thanks for suggesting it, because inflicting my own memories of mountain trips on Dean was dead therapeutic. Like, I might even have to revisit this one sometime. *thinks deep thoughts about mountains and tummies*
Sam *would* be the kind of aggravating person who wouldn't have any troubling adjusting to the altitude change. But he'd know what to do anyway - unlike Dean, who just assumes altitude sickness is for babies and The Weak.

OP here and, wow, so lovely and dark all at once. Love your OC's voice and the description of the footprints. Also love the flashback and Sam's reaction to Dean's plight.

So awesome. I adore that you did outsider POV. That poor maid. The descriptions of the motel room from her POV were amazing and slightly creepy. And then that tiny little glimpse into what happened that tells us so much about what's going through Sam's head. ♥ ♥
