APPEARANCE
Sarah is a petite, pale skinned young woman with vibrant red hair. Her eyes are a wild mix of grey and blue which are highlighted by the tattooed heart under Sarah's right eye. She's skinny, waif like and probably only just comes in at 100lbs soaking wet.
While Sarah is a slight woman, she does tend to wear bulky, heavy boots, and shuns more modern styles of dress in favour of older style Victorian era. Bloomers, corsets, underskirts and all. Although she maintains a 'modern' wardrobe at times, all of Sarah's clothes have a red heart stitched into them. Her boots are usually a size too big and never tied properly thus, often thump rather loudly.
Sarah is not unknown to wander around in little more than a night shirt or a sheet.
PERSONALITY
Complexity at its finest, Sarah is a walking contradiction as far as personalities go. While she can be a little socially awkward, she tends to always be in the thick of things. An only child, Sarah is used to having her own way and always having attention when she wants it. While this changed for a while, Sarah soon learned that when she wanted attention, she just had to turn her powers to the person in question and she got it.
As an empath, and a rather powerful one, Sarah tends to lose herself in emotions that aren't hers. This sometimes takes a toll on her usually easy going nature. Sarah can go from zero to sixty in less than ten seconds and usually cause a total backlash on everyone around her. It makes her cautious of connections but dependent on company which is difficult to balance.
More often than not, Sarah's moods and reactions are not her own and are stemmed from what others around her are feeling and how she reacts. This makes it difficult to truly pin down just how her nature has evolved with her mutant power. One thing that is for sure is Sarah's willingness to manipulate in order to ease herself, be it through absorption of others emotions or simply expelling the stuff she doesn't want to feel into another person.
PERSONAL HISTORY
A single child in a fairly affluent area, Sarah Mayspring was the pride and joy of her parents when she was born. Doted on and loved dearly, the young, wide eyed girl was exceptionally outgoing, displaying prodigy like abilities in numerous areas of her sophisticated life. Classical music was a passion, and throughout her childhood she learned to play numerous instruments at the encouragement of her loving parents. Her favoured instrument was the violin.
With the money and ability, Sarah attended college at a young age, younger than most. With Literature and Music as her majors she was deemed 'odd' for most of her college life. In fact, it was mild eccentricities in her personality, simply standing out among those of a lower class due to her far more 'old fashioned' persuasion in life. While in college, Sarah's mutant powers developed, leaving her slightly withdrawn from the stressful effect.
It was Sarah's grandmother, Charlotte, who noticed the change and pressed her for an explanation. When they discovered that Sarah was a mutant, and her power was greatly coveted by many mutant researchers or group leaders, Sarah was pulled from college and brought home to New Jersey where her family hired a very highly recommended trainer to teach Sarah how to use her emotional powers and to better stabilise the young woman. By twenty two, Sarah had mastered what she had been taught and felt she'd out grown her trainer. Taking a leave, Sarah moved from her home in Elizabeth, New Jersey into Manhattan, New York.
Things were rather daunting at first, but Sarah soon managed to block out enough while filtering things in easily. She kept a group of friends that were aware of her abilities but kept their mouths shut and were comfortable with Sarah's occasional tweaks of their emotional state. As Sarah tended towards the motivational and practical assistance to her social circle and took far more manipulative acts on other people, ones she didn't know or those she found she bore a dislike to.
It was during a small, anti-mutant rally from one of the small remaining groups that Sarah was noticed by the MRE. As a riot broke out, Sarah was in the thick of the crowd and utilised her powers to call a halt to all those as part of the demonstration where they stood and allowing the authorities to round up the group easily.
Sarah was offered a position within the elite group, based in Washington, and without a reason to say no, she agreed.
