I finally caved in and bought a DS, complete with Phoenix Wright. And damn, the game is just as awesome as everyone says it is. I've only finished the first case, but I'm just enjoying how fun the game is. I haven't really noticed any ghey subtext yet, but I'm sure that'll come along in due course. >:D
Also, FFXII:
The Good --
*The music. That version of the series theme playing over the title screen might be the best yet.
*The graphics. Holy shit, I'm almost having a hard time believing this is on the humble PS2. Almost.
*The huge free-roaming areas. Now, usually, I love linearity and being told where to go next. What can I say, I have a tendency to get lost and/or paranoid that I'm doing things in the wrong order. But, inexplicably, I'm getting such a kick out of roaming around various plains and wastelands, doing as I please.
*The License Board, which takes the best aspects of the Sphere Grid and makes them a hundred times better. Being able to fully mold and customize characters is something that should have been implemented long ago in the series.
*Balthier. 'Nuff said.
The Bad --
*Most of the characters...well...don't seem all that interesting. I'm not too far yet, so hopefully they'll actually have some development soon. Same goes for the plot -- while decent, it doesn't strike me as anything special (evil twin brother? Surely they can do better than that).
*It's taking AN AGE to level up and accumulate Gil. While selling loot as a primary source of income is a nice touch, it's fucking time-consuming.
The Ugly --
*Vaan's weird black zombie abs. WTF?
*Fran's dental floss thong. I like you, but put your arse away, love.
Ugh, work tomorrow. Oh well, only five days 'til the weekend!
