Arthur taught Gwen that every person in Camelot is valuable? Really?
Hmm, I think I interpreted this as Gwen invoking Arthur's name in order to remind the council who's really in charge of Camelot. Sort of a "what would Arthur do?" moment. I would be very sad if they put us through all those "Gwen teaches Arthur to be a human" moments only to retroactively wipe it out now.
I really expected the dragon to give them a lift. I was irrationally disappointed when he didn't (and then Merlin would have had to share a horse with Arthur all the way back to Camelot!)
But you know, I will happily trade everything for Arthur getting his personality back.
I think the "what would Arthur do" tactic certainly made sense in that context, I just wish they would have written it in a way that didn't seem to directly contradict, uh, most of the history of their relationship.
I bet Arthur let two of the horses go while no one was looking, and then went "OH DEAR, THE WYVERNS MUST HAVE GOTTEN THEM, GUESS MERLIN WILL HAVE TO SHARE WITH ME."
But yeah, I bitch, but really I'm just sitting here with hearts in my eyes wibbling over how utterly wonderful Arthur was. That face, and the stupid nobility, and all those quiet but unmistakeable feelings. Gah, my boy. ♥
Heee! Oh yeah, that is totally what Arthur did! And then he had an excuse to wrap his arms around Merlin and reassure himself that Merlin was okay all the way back to Camelot.
I am wibbling right along with you. I'm an Arthur girl and it is such a relief to have episodes like this where he's exactly as wonderful as he should be with his blocked-up feelings and his bravery and his leadership and his total love for Merlin. ♥ ♥ ♥
Merlin was all "Arthur, dude, I am not going to fall off the horse, you don't need to - Oh. Oh." Leon and Elyan pretended not to notice that Arthur had his nose buried in Merlin's hair, and that Merlin only hand one hand on the reigns and the other over Arthur's on his waist. (I imagine Gwaine and Percy actually didn't notice because they were too busy poking at each other, though at some point Gwaine was probably like "Hey Arthur your horse looks tired maybe Merlin should ride with me for a while." )
It's like they looked at my head-canon for Arthur - which was basically late-series-1-show-canon, really - and went "Oh hey, that's pretty good, let's do that." They are very, very welcome to keep doing that, oh yes. ♥ ♥ ♥
Um, yeah, I felt a little wtf about Arthur teaching Gwen as well, but then I decided that she brings him up to back up her statement and make her position seem stronger in front of the court.
