because I'm a dork

This is Break's theme song, as far as I'm concerned.

Sound Horizon - Rain's World (Rei'in no Sekai)
(I translated the name 澪音 (Rei'in) as Rain because the kanji seem to suggest the sound of flowing water and there's rain imagery elsewhere in the song, so I suspect the pronunciation was deliberate. Other than that I think I'm going to just... not offer any more notes because pretty much every single line required artistic interpretation, lol. Obviously I tended to go the route of interpreting it in ways closer to Break's circumstances, so it might not be 100% faithful to the original story.)

---

"In a wild field, one young girl walks along by herself.
Speaking strictly, one girl and one animal. In the girl's right hand, there's a red cord.
The collar connected to its other end is red as well.
The black and silver dog let out a little bark,
as though to speak to its mistress, the young girl Rain."

Huddled in extravagant ruins, fearing the freezing rain
Shining honor, prestige and power, these are all things of the past now

"Observation is a knife that gouges into the side of truth.
What did that man really gain? What did he lose?"

Those who stole are in turn stolen, and in this fashion the world keeps on turning
On the other side of this endless rain, what color sky do you see?

This bargain that turns more heated the more risk you shoulder--
you won't realize until you lose everything, that you are a helpless slave to your own ego

Staying in empty ruins, shivering with the freezing rain
A place to go home to, people waiting for you, these are all things of the past now

"Conjecture is a knife that scrapes against the back of truth.
What did that man really see? What did he learn?"

Those who stole are in turn stolen, and in this fashion time keeps on turning
On the other side of this endless rain, what color is the sky?

Though he planned to pin fate down and subdue it,
the arms that stretched out to grasp the future were just too short...

When the girl's closed eyes opened, the world she saw
dreamed a terrible vision of madness, of death's merciless angel

---This is Rain's world

"It is said that upon death, before the mind goes,
the senses of our physical body are the first to wither away.
Perhaps this is why even while humans desperately evade death and plot to escape from it,
we are able to endure its cold, uninvited kiss?"

"An illusion that ceaseless terror turns to rain which keeps on falling
That is an agony that slowly breaks down mind and soul for as long as life goes on
Transparent as glass orbs, parallel mirrors with infinite reflections within
They say that in the young girl's eyes, sinners see merely 'the world'."

"One picture is worth more than a thousand words, or even a million.
Pity, scorn, misplaced sneers -- these things are no more our concern than a fire burning miles away
Until it flares up, no one knows how hot it will be; once it's started burning, it's too late
Do you truly think that anyone can live in this world without committing sin?"

---This is Rain's world

When the girl's closed eyes opened, the world she saw
dreamed a terrible vision of madness, of death's merciless angel

Those shining ice-blue eyes press lips against the vividly rotting world
and the fallen vision of madness, and become death's merciless angel

"My flock of fellow sinners spread across the earth
I pray that you will not be imprisoned in Rain's world..."
