Reading your post makes a part of me rather glad I get all of my real world news by reading various newspapers online and the rest of my almost-real news by watching Comedy Central (Jon Stewart & Steven Colbert).

That's how I usually get the news myself, though I probably don't hit the sites as often as I should. I basically treat CNN/Fox News the same way I treat blogs: they're good for opinions, not news. I only check them out when I'm looking for some perspective on a story. I try to watch both of them during the big ones, for completeness' sake. (Not to mention the humor of it all.)
