i don't think that it's "stretching it". and i like the quote from the, what is it, novel or play? as well. i used to dislike it, but seen from this light, it's not looking too bad. i must reread it.

the novel is fabulous. and it's not really surprising that it didn't translate to the white screen that well. one of the main reasons the novel is so wonderful is because of the language (i think at least). fitch is a terrific writer. the fact that rather a lot of the story is left out in the movie is not really improving things either.
