welcome! I'm new, too, but I used to be on a different name. It will be nice to have some active members in here. I plan on posting later tonight.
Also wondering, have you read Charlotte Perkins Gilman? She was a feminist writer, not generally seen as 'mad', but one of her stories, The Yellow Paper is really really good. I recommend it, if you're looking for something to read. =)
Hi Megan, my name is Alice I'm also 15 and I was wondering how you were diagnosed with having bipolar disorder as I think I might have it but can't really talk about it to my parents easily.
favorite female writers/poets with themes of madness? Charlotte Bronte, Emily Bronte, Sylvia Plath
favorite books on madness? Wuthering Heights, The madwoman in the attic, books by Amelie Nothomb, Nadja by Breton, Hamlet, Cat's eye by Atwood
favorite films which document or hint at "women & madness"? the Hours, The virgin suicides, Adele H., Camille Claudel, Jules et Jim, Requiem for a dream
I'm currently working on the theme of female neurosis in the two french films Camille Claudel and Adele H. Has anyone seen these films by any chance?
