It really does suck. Yet another reason I stayed put after westrider moved back up to Bainbridge, despite leaks/crummy landlord. Here we are trying to be good city citizens and do without cars, and anything affordable is way the hell out by the mall or at the ass end of lacey. Crapdoodles!
That being said...I was thinking about your situation. If you're not totally driven to move out of your Dad's house, you could have the opportunity to do what I was thinkin' about earlier...live rent-free another year, save like a miser, and...downpayment. Doesn't get you out of the room-mate situation (3 bedroom more cost effective than 2, 1 almost non-existant), but it puts you in CHARGE of it. Think about it!
hmmm... that's not something I had considered. Worth looking at at the very least. Nevertheless, I'm not doing anything too serious for a few more months at least. By that time I should have a more solid credit history, since I've been using my credit card like a dutiful little capitalist. :)
I'm not planning on moving again before I leave Oly, but if you were to buy a place and needed a room-mate to help with rent, I'd consider it. I mean, I'd rather my rent-money was going to help a friend do something cool than just vanishing into the white-trash-landlord-abyss, y'know?
