On today

My knees smell bad. I had an ultrasound done on them today, because I took a nasty spill on the sidewalk in February - and with the pain still kinda lingering a few months later, I figured I should actually mention it to my doctor. I'm sure it's fine. But man, that ultrasound...The technician had to turn down the lights to see the monitor, and ( Read more... )

They made me do it! Although I do kind of like it - but then, I always knew I would. I think that was one of the many reasons I held off getting one for so long. I wanted to avoid getting sucked in.

It took me about 20 minutes to compose my first text message.

I will e-mail you the number, so that you can contact me with strange, harrassing messages.

Okay, first: You can ultrasound knees? I had no idea.

And - you have phone? I am disbelief!

And - a cat?? !! Oh!!!
I hope it comes back. It may be a spirit cat.

First - yes! I'm starting to think you can ultrasound just about anything. But maybe not your shoes.

And - I KNOW. Someday I can even show it to you, and you can try calling it or something, and maybe then you'll believe.

And - I hope the cat comes back, too! There was a kind of serendipity in the encounter, maybe with a sort of instant bonding. Failing that, she was just plain friendly and soft and I'd like to pet her some more.

I am so confused as to what exam they did on your legs that took a half hour..... and what the hell type of gel are they using, ours doesn't smell at all. I know cause I get it all over me on a daily basis. Plus everyone talks about falling asleep in our rooms, and quite a few people actually do, so don't feel unusual about that.

Okay, it's validating to know I'm not the only person who feels that way about ultrasounds. Do you usually keep the rooms slightly dark in order to see the monitors?

They examined both knees, and they examined them from every side - front, one side, the other side, behind. Each individual scan took a few minutes, before I had to rotate again. It did seem like the technician was spending a fair bit of time analyzing each one, though.

Yeah, we keep the lights low to prevent glare on the screen. As well it helps us keep our settings set properly on the screen.
