Wait, what's going on here? I'm so out of touch with FF7 right now.

Hey Zelda! *hugs* I hope things get better for you soon, I've been catching up on my friends list and I noticed you're having a hard time. :( *hugs more*

As for the FFVII thing, there were some new novellas written to tie in with AC Complete's release, and one of them's a two part thing featuring Aerith and Sephiroth called Case of Lifestream. As far as I know, the Aerith part has the same plotline as Maiden (Aerith wandering the Lifestream during FFVII) but it's written by Nojima.

Someone's done some rough translations of it and there's a line in there that supposedly goes 'Cloud is the woman's friend, koibito -- he is a symbol for something important, an existence that she must protect.'

The translator left the word 'koibito' untranslated and put a note in saying people were free to interpret it as they wanted, so I'm just speculating on what translation's most likely.

Aw, thanks hun. ♥

Interesting. I can already hear the lulzy arguments from everyone. :3

I joined that Lifestream forum out of curiosity, too.

I'm guessing warranty's expired or doesn't cover? D: My friend's Mac was completely drenched by the rain, but Apple was very nice about replacing certain parts. Dunno whether that involved the monitor, though, as I think he said the monitor is the most expensive part and not usually covered...

But yay for your dad! :D

As for Koibito Part Deux, personally, I think the writers are jerking everyone's strings by casually throwing around this kind of wording. Still, the irony of, after thread after thread of debunking "Tifa = Cloud's koibito", Clerises go nuts over "Aerith = Cloud's koibito"...

Haha, I hear ya on the nails thing. Mine are fragile as anything so I usually break them while I'm typing! *sigh* I think the Pro is less breakable than the Macbook I had cos I did exactly the same thing to it today as I did to the old one, and it survived without even a scratch. It's the Black Knight of laptops!

Yeah, I've been reading the thread but I'm not really keen on posting what I think over there. I'll just come sit in the neutral corner with you. ;)

Oh Squeenix--you never fail in bringing out the lulz in fandom.

To be honest, I'd have to see the sentence to determine what the damn word means in context. If there's something like 'Kuraudo ga _______ no koibito'--well, then yes, it's lover. However, if it's not tied to anything with the '____ no koibito', then no dice.

Haha, I'm sure they do it on purpose, then sit back and gleefully watch the explosion.

Yeah, I don't know whether there's a copy of the original, untranslated story, but there's a full translation now, if you're interested in reading it. I like how the origins of the SHM are actually explained. Also loving the extent of Sephy's Cloud obsession.

'I'm still thinking of you.'

I'm sure you are, Sephiroth.

OH god, I can't say for sure I wouldn't do the same were I in their position. XD

I did see the original Japanese, and it does have all the necessary components to use 'koibito' as in the 'romantic partner' sense (I had to read up on 'de aru' to be sure)--I still heavily doubt this will mean shit to the rabid anti-shippers. Which is fine, at least now they might back off and not be so quick to use the 'koibito' argument anymore. XD

I like the novella thus far--I was constantly confused as to how Sephiroth spawned three clones, so this novella ties that up nicely.

Pfft! No matter what ship you argue for in FF7, Sephiroth/Cloud and Zack/Cloud always, ALWAYS tops.

Don't worry, AerTi--you're the true winner here!
