This's gonna end up being 30 MONTHS of gaming, isn't it?

And here I am, five months later, with the next update to the '30 days of...' memes. That I started so I'd be more active on LJ. HOW'S THAT WORKING OUT FOR YOU, SELF?

Day 22 - A game sequel which disappointed you

Resident Evil: Code Veronica. It's not terrible as far as games go, but I just found it a chore to get through. Steve got on my wick, the Code Veronica version of Chris can apparently go toe to toe with The Terminator Wesker but can't keep hold of a bag full of helpful supplies, and basically the only high point of the game for me was Alfred being a lunatic.

Day 23 - Game you think had the best graphics or art style

Squeenix games would be the obvious choice. But the Uncharted games also have some absolutely breathtaking graphics, as does Devil May Cry 4, most notably the snowy levels based around Fortuna Castle, and the sunny streets in Fortuna.

Day 24 - Favorite classic game

Apart from SONIC 1 SONIC 1 SONIC 1?

Toejam & Earl for the Sega Megadrive. The game has a simple premise: your rocketship crash-landed on Earth, so it's up to you to search through the various levels to find the scattered pieces of your ship so you can fix it up and go back to Planet Funkotron. (And who wouldn't want to go to Planet Funkotron?)

Powerups could be found in the form of presents dropped by Santa, who you could sneak up on and scare so that he'd drop even more before firing up his jetpack and blasting away - yes really - but you never knew what you'd find until you opened them. Could be a host of different things. Could be a Boombox, which would get enemy earthlings off your back by blasting out music that they'd be unable to resist dancing to, could be a Raincloud which would hang over your head and zap you with lightning at regular intervals, draining your life bar. Could be a pair of Icarus Wings, so you could fly to unreachable areas on the map, or it could be a School Book, which would send you to sleep and leave you vulnerable to enemies. The only way to find out, other than biting the bullet and opening it, was to pay a man dressed as a carrot and get him to identify the contents for you. Naturally.

It's one of those games that really shines in two-player mode, and I adored playing through it with my brother on a Saturday afternoon when we were kids. The sequel was a lot of fun too.

Day 22 - A song that you listen to when you’re sad

Any kind of upbeat songs. I don't like listening to depressing music when I'm sad. A quick listen of
The Wanted - Glad You Came, Outkast - Hey Ya, Utada Hikaru - Keep Tryin', or Ayumi Hamasaki - Next Level usually gets me singing along and cheers me up.

Day 23 - A song that you want to play at your wedding

Fade Into You - Mazzy Star

Day 24 - A song that you want to play at your funeral

Fuck knows. I'm not exactly planning to have one anytime soon.
