Today as I was going about my various tasks I started to think about where I was this time last year.  I was living with my host/adopted family, and they took me out to dinner at the Cheesecake factory for the first time.  The food was excellent, and despite the incredibly long wait, it was well worth the trip.

I'm sitting at my office right now.  Just finished teaching a Teología del Cuerpo class for about 45 minutes, and I'm waiting for 5pm Mass to begin.  The one thing I can say about teaching Theology of the Body in Spanish is that it keeps me humble.... I don't usually finish feeling accomplished or triumphant... I usually watch the couples ( Read more... )

I think that I can finally, after 3 months, say that I am *officially* moved into the apartment.  No more boxes as drawers, no more sleeping on the floor... My apartment feels a lot like a home now, fully equipped with a couch, a bed, dresser, side tables, and pictures and paintings hanging here and there.  My own little space :)

I actually don't think I'll be able to sleep tonight if I don't splash something on the space for rambling that Livejournal provides for situations such as these.  Bedtime is approaching quickly (if it hasn't already passed) so we'll try to keep this to a "Top Eleven" list.  It will satisfy both the desire to ramble, and the need to update.

I feel like I'm ending my first 7 weeks on a good note.  This past week it seems like I was constantly on the go... always some place to be, a person to meet with, a task to accomplish.  It's good though.  I like staying busy, but I can tell that I need to monitor this in the future.  There's nothing wrong with taking time for Deanna.  I need ( Read more... )

One of the first things that we taught our dog Merci was the command "Wait".

She'd sit in front of me while I held a treat just a few inches away from her nose.  Her eyes would be set intently on the prize, while I repeated off and on "Wait.... Wait....".  Finally, I would say "OK" and she knew that she was allowed to receive her treat.

I am very happy to report that I have officially lived in Dodge City for one month :)  I hardly know where to begin or what to say... it's been a really good 30 days.
