Blood+ Episode 19
Noooooooot that anyone really cares, but I'm changing how I do my episode reviews. Episodes without Diva or her Chevalier in it are going to be skipped, and I'm just doing quotes/script format with notes.
Riku must be extra delicious to vampires.
Exchange between not-Einstein and David:
"She was a beautiful and wild young woman, but a great threat to humanity. She was called Diva. But everything was destroyed during the 1972 Christmas Bombing."
Exchange between Elizaveta (lol) & Saya:
"Aren't you eating anything, Liza-san?"
"I'm fine with just this. [This being tea] I don't eat more than is necessary. I don't enjoy eating."
"I'm sorry..."
"Oh, there's no need to apologize. You need it. Rather than that, it's running away." [Some of the caviar on Saya's eggs spilled. DELICIOUS DOUBLE MEANINGS.]
"Living things only eat to survive. As living things, the Chiroptera are no different. They feed on human blood to stay alive."
A bit later--
ELIZA: "Have you thought about it this way? Why do the Chiroptera exist? Have you thought of what that means?"
SAYA: "What it means...?"
"Chiroptera and humans...Why are they both allowed to exist? Where did we come from, and where are we going? What do you think?"
"Um, I don't really know anything about the Chiroptera...I think if the Chiroptera are huring people, are causing them pain, I should fight to protect everyone. I'm the only one who can do so, so I must."
"A beautifully crafted answer. That is, if you overlook one point, right? Defeating the chiroptera may indeed be your duty, but is that what your heart truly desires?"
"Desires...?"
"Saya, aren't you confusing duty with desire? Surely, there is something else that you should be doing."
[INTERRUPTING SHOTA PASSING OUT, whatever]
Back in the hotel room, Elizaveta and Saya:
"Isn't it strange? That someone like you wants to hunt Chiroptera without knowing why you fight, without knowing much about the enemy, without realizing that you are being forced to fight. What do you intend to do after killing all the Chiroptera?"
"I figured it'd be nice to live with Kai and Riku in Okinawa again."
"In order to make that happen, how many lives will you sacrifice? When you fight the Chiroptera, those around you will get drawn into the fight, and they are bound to lose something dear to them. It's the sad truth."
The big reveal:
"It was exquisite...Elizaveta's last moment. I wish you could have seen it, that terrified expression. And it was so delicious...Her blood. So, I drank all of it."
[Haji charges, and now Elizaveta's voice is manly as fuck] "A fallen Chevalier dares to bare his fangs at me?"
[And Elizaveta throws a dagger at Saya's face, which Haji catches with his hand. Through his hand, actually.] "Last question. Whom are you living for? What are your true desires?"
SAYA: "To fight the Chiroptera for the sake of those who need me."
"I see. That's too bad...Truly..."
FUCK YEAH AMSHEL YOU ARE THE BEST
More Amshel being a dick:
"You should be aware of it by now, Saya. You are not human. How funny, that a demon like you masquerades as a human [LOL]. What are you trying to accomplish, hiding behind your fake family and friends? Fighting for the sake of humanity? Don't be stupid. After all, you're one of us!
You've known it for a long time. You are one of the Chiroptera that you hunt!"
"I'm..."
"You are a Chiropteran!"
"No...That can't..."
HAJI [his balls are still recovering]: "Saya..."
"You knew it all along and yet you didn't tell her, Haji. Was it cowardice? Or did you really want to stay with Saya so badly? Even betraying your oath as a Chevalier..."
[Haji tries to punch him]
lol it didn't work
"You're not worthy as a Chevalier. You're just a misguided man. You think so too, don't you?"
[And then Saya tries to fight and gets her ass handed to her.]
- And, weirdly, another random power that you never see again. Amshel likes screams or some shit and it's so loud/pitched just right that the snow sort of explodes underneath them and the sword breaks. What...is this series...

"Diva...My sister...?"
"Do you understand? You are working for Red Shield, who is trying to kill your own sister."
"But David-san..."
"Of course, he knew that Diva is your sister. Everyone knew. Him [Haji] too, of course."
"Haji..."
"How does it feel to be betrayed by your so-called friends? If you want to know more about yourself, come to the Zoo."
"The Zoo?"
"The place where it all began. He knows that as well."
