Episode 39

Jul 03, 2010 14:45

Okamura and Louis are on a stakeout

OKAMURA: "Amshel Goldsmith. He's the leader of Goldsmith Holdings, which, thanks to its capital, is becoming a stockholder of renowed enterprises all over the world. That's on the surface. But underneath, is he really a Chevalier?"

LOUIS: "He is if you believe what Solomon said."

OKAMURA: "But if that man is actually having a honeymoon with the US government quarters because of those monsters, what's going to happen to the world?"

LOUIS: "Who knows? At any rate, we'll soon find out whether or not he's a Chevalier."

OKAMURA: "Find out...how? By pulling out his hair?"

LOUIS: "No, it's just that I have some interesting 'intel' from an old friend from my CIA days [WOAH LOUIS YOU ARE BA]. It seems he's about to be assassinated."

WAIT WHAT?

Meanwhile, at some castle, a party.

SOME LADY: "A labratory over there?"

SOME DUDE: "Yes. But the New York branch is quite far away."

SOME OTHER DUDE: "That's true, but it's a nice location. And best of all, you can hunt deer."

SL: "All this man can think about is hunting."

DUDE: "The attempt failed? How am I going to tell Mr. Grant?"

DUDE 2: "I'm terribly sorry!"

VO: "It seems that everyone's here."

who else

and then joel and david show up and david returns Julia's pen LMFAO
SOME LADY: "I'd heard a rumor that you were in an accident. But you're here to celebrate, too."

JOEL: "Indeed, I am. The Goldsmiths are an offshoot of the Goldschmidt family [YET THEY NEVER FIGURED OUT THE CONNECTION]. So when Goldsmith Holdings is embarking on a new business venture in America, I thought that I should give them my blessing."

AMSHEL: "I'm honored to have the head of the Goldschmidt family grace us with his presence."

[Joel moves to draw his gun] JOEL: "David."

DAVID: "Yes, sir."

JOEL: "I thank you for all you did for me when my father died, Uncle Amshel."

AMSHEL: "It was rude of me to forget to send you an invitation."

JOEL: "Not at all."

AMSHEL: "Shall we toast?"

JOEL: "Of course. That is the reason I came here."

AMSHEL: "Cheers."

JOEL: "Cheers."

[They notice his ring, and David flashes back to the same ring that Elizaveta wore]

JOEL: "That's quite a nice ring."

AMSHEL: "Oh, this? It's been a family heirloom for generations. I haven't taken it off, not even for a moment."

JOEL: "I see."

[Okamura and Louis are in a van watching, btw]

OKAMURA: "That lad does have guts, doesn't he?"

LOUIS: "Y-Yeah..."

JOEL: "I've heard about your new business in biotechnology."

AMSHEL: "Indeed, you have sharp ears. I think someday, traditional sciences and bio-high-tech will become integrated. An organization must evolve every day, or else it will die out. To open up future possibilities, we need new blood. You understand as well, don't you?"

JOEL: "Of course. But...I'm the type of person who believes that, rather than blindly pursuing the future, it is more important to redress our past mistakes. You may not know this, but the founder of our family was such a person."

AMSHEL: "Oh? Joel Goldschmidt, the founder? If it were possible, I would have liked to have met such a person. The Goldschmidt family is regarded as a clan shrouded in mystery. Indeed. Perhaps it's due to such a family tradition."

JOEL: "Well, we're merely humans that live, breathe, and grow old."

AMSHEL: "If humans are hurt, they bleed."

JOEL: "It is a matter of course that there is a price to pay for redressing past mistakes."

AMSHEL: "Sometimes, the price can be too high." [He looks at Joel's wheelchair]

JOEL [smiling]: "After giving up dancing, I've learned to appreciate the pleasure of listening instead."

AMSHEL: "Thus autumn, our company will launch an opera at the Met. This time, I'll be sure to remember to send you an invitation."

JOEL: "Oh, no, I couldn't. If I don't buy my own ticket, I'm not qualified to enjoy the show."

AMSHEL: "You're quite a conscientious person."

JOEL: "Well, then, we shall meet again in New York. Shall we go?"

DAVID: "R-Right..."

[Amshel returns to the castle, watching them leave from a window] AMSHEL: "A snake is a snake. You can't afford to let your guard down until you crush its head."
