I'm sitting here in weldon library with Cara. We're both watching the live update election stuff on our laptops. My heart is racing like that's its job. With each update I'm filled with a little more fear. All I can ponder are the 'what ifs' and the 'maybes' for what's happening tonight. I am trying to think that since they're minority, they won't be able to pull tons of crazy shit cause they need support of other parties so they don't topple.

The above comment is absolutely correct. It will be very hard to pass any truly extreme legislation because the Conservatives have only 124 seats out of 308. 155 is required to pass something. They could depend on the Bloc; however, the Bloc is more left than they, so it still wouldn't apply to a lot of legislation.

As for same-sex marriage... I'm still baffled by how Harper plans to overturn it WITHOUT USING THE NON-WITHSTANDING CLAUSE! What an ass for never answering that question directly!
